 FAQs

  • Yes! I love the insights that all pathology and functional testing can give us when it comes to pin pointing the root cause of chronic health issues. The most common tests I order are usually small tests to fill in the gaps missed in general pathology (things like rT3 and insulin, for example), but sometimes larger, stand alone tests are indicated, especially the super insightful Organic Acids Test (OAT), which can tell us a lot about how our bodies are functioning.

  • It varies hugely. Basic tests aren’t terribly expensive ($60+) and other tests are a few hundred $ with comprehensive testing easily reaching $1000 altogether. However, it is rare that we would ever order that much in testing in one session. The most expensive test regularly ordered is the OAT, which is around $350~. While testing isn’t essential, it does give us a lot more information to go on and can save a lot of time and money in the long run, avoiding a lot of trial and error. From a business stand point, I do not make money on testing, so rest assured that we will only order tests if it’s deemed necessary (or if you simply want to do them!). Functional testing is an additional cost to consultation time and review.

  • Certified Practicing Nutritionists, such as myself, are the only nutrition-based profession recognised by the TGA as being able to prescribe supplements via Schedule 1 exemption. In short, CPNs are the only nutrition profession allowed to prescribe supplements off label and for extemporaneous compounding - no other nutrition profession has this ability. This puts us in a unique position to target health conditions with supplements and we can make big changes to someone’s health through this means. Supplements are not safe! They should always be prescribed by a professional, otherwise serious harm may arise. CPNs have access to practitioner only supplements that are higher quality and have more evidence behind them. From a business perspective, I do not make money from selling supplements, and we will only use supplements where indicated. Supplements are an additional cost to consultation time and review.
